Chain of Responsibility

Chain of Responsibility (CoR) is a nationally legislated program of compliance which aims to improve safety and reduce risks within the road transport industry. In practical terms, this primary duty represents an obligation to eliminate or minimise potential risks by doing all that is reasonably practicable to ensure safety.

Changes to CoR were introduced on 1st October 2018. The Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) was amended to state that every party in the heavy vehicle transport supply chain has a duty to ensure the safety of their transport activities. These changes align CoR Laws more closely with Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) Laws.
